Be A Hero_ Campaign

Recently contributed some of my design bits for dear Armman. This time once again it was something that I truly felt for. Dr. Aparna Hedge shared the facts, figures, reasons, the need and most importantly her ever-energetic drive for this new campaign conceived and initiated Armman. What followed is, a group of volunteers from both India and US working on it as a team virtually(!), and giving their special bits to make this campaign happen... to achieve the very motive. Pl read this through to know more...

Armman, a secular India based nonprofit organization has been intensively working on project HERO ( Helpline for Emergency Response Operation) only to facilitate our present precarious scenario when it comes to accidents and their after-effects.
With HERO, Armman aims to provide a first reat-time updates information system about emergency medical resources in Mumbai.

In simple diagram, this is how it works ....

More about Armman and the HERO project here: www.armman.org
Do contribute to this 'needful cause' to see the difference....

Be cool, be generous :)

Riggy's coming to life:

Treatment...
Next step after script and the ikea-man storyboards was to animate it in Maya. This was my first ever experience in the software.

Animation tests...
'Riggy' short was an attempt to show we can animate almost anything and it need not have any physical features. Narrowing down to the basic idea of a good mime artist who enacts with least and expresses the most. Riggy who is a sweeper at a theatre performs series of acts, just like pro!

I really think the rig in it's grey un-textured surface would have served our purpose better :)
But neither the less it was some precious learning and experience making it. Thanks to my maya guru Gareth! Here's one of the initial animation tests in all it's crude greyness just for you.
In the test shot you here, Riggy is in a pretty stormy situation ;)

Enjoy!

So I was to animate a rig. And what would have been best medium to help me with storyboarding? Yes, the Ikea Man, of course and indeed :)

Good day!

Vivi5 on MP Magazine, Dubai: here's a peep!

Animation is an illusion; beautiful and phenomenal. Often a byproduct of our imaginations, dreams and fantasies. A real image of the unreal parallel universe, often developing in our minds, almost every day.

Media Production: How did you first become involved with animation?

Rita Dhankani: I had applied for further studies in animation at the National Institute of Design, India (NID), while I was still in my final year pursuing Graphic Design in Applied Arts. To prepare for the entrance, I used to cycle down to buzzing markets in order to find interesting scenes where people were busy in their respective occupations, to sketch them ‘live’. It happened during one such sketching session that I noticed my regular human sketches had started looking more like characters. I was emphasizing their physical features so as to sync them with their ambience. It was then that I realized I was turning to the whole idea of animation. NID followed and I received a legal license to create life! To create animation films.
